collective cultural landscape design
As part of a restructuring of the agricultural land, a diverse agroforestry system with trees, shrubs, and intermediate crops in a varied crop rotation was developed. The design is based on rows of trees planted along the road and the existing hedgerow. Their south–north orientation allows sufficient sunlight for the crops growing between them, while the hedgerow and tree rows simultaneously act as a windbreak against prevailing western winds. Adequate spacing between the tree rows allows for mechanized cultivation of the fields. Existing standard fruit trees and the hedgerow are integrated into the system and remain preserved. The adjacent area is maintained as a species-rich wildflower meadow, complementing the ecological structure of the cultivated landscape.
